Last Chance To Donate To Running Man

Appeal reaches £56,000 with just days to go in marathon effort. Sunday will mark the close of Scott Cunliffe’s JustGiving fundraising page for his now-famous RunAway Challenge.

The magnitude of Cunliffe’s challenge, which saw him successfully run to every one of Burnley FC’s away fixtures during the 2018/19 season, caught the imagination of thousands of people from across the country.

After nine months of fundraising, the total now stands at an astonishing £56k (with Gift Aid).

After the close of the page, 50% of the final total will go to Burnley FC in the Community to be distributed to community projects in Scott’s hometown of Burnley. The other 50% will be split evenly between the community trusts of all 20 Premier League clubs.

Scott said: “The overwhelming support I’ve received from day one, especially from the Burnley FC football family, has been humbling.

“When I started this unique journey last summer, I could never have anticipated that we would achieve these fundraising levels.

“Big or small - every single donation is valuable and will make a real difference to the lives of people both here in Burnley and across the country.

“This is the last call to all those who would like to support the RunAway Challenge and add to that final total. The page will close on Sunday and we will then start the process of distributing the funds.”

Over the course of the 2018/19 season, Scott covered 3,090 miles and completed 734 hours of running over 100 days. Completing the equivalent of 118 marathons, he took 5.6 million steps to reach each Clarets game on foot.

Scott’s JustGiving page will close on Sunday. To donate, please click here.
