Burnley have enquired about signing Danny Drinkwater on loan from Chelsea, according to Sky Sports News. 

Drinkwater only featured in the Community Shield for the Blues last term under Maurizio Sarri, and has now reportedly been deemed surplus to requirements this season. The 29-year-old worked with Burnley boss Sean Dyche when he was Watford’s assistant manager in 2011 and the midfielder enjoyed a loan spell at Vicarage Road. In total, Drinkwater has appeared 23 times for the Blues since signing from Leicester in the summer of 2017.
